Be My Valentine

by Kathleen Richards on February 14, 2010

On this day of romance I thought I would share from a woman’s perspective who has been in a 24 year relationship what I see as being romantic.  For those of you newly in love…just wait 10 years.

My heart is warmed and I love my man when:

  • He cooks for me (he is a retired fireman and I am still working)
  • He shops for the household
  • He does the laundry
  • He cleans the house (I hire cleaners when he leaves for a trip to get down and dirty)
  • He walks the dog at 6:00am so I can sleep in a bit
  • On Sunday morning he brings me coffee and bagel in bed
  • He knows when to leave me alone after a difficult day
  • I go to my car in the morning and he has gotten up earlier and washed it for me
  • He knows my crazy days at work (I never eat lunch) and will pop in and drop off a snack to keep me going
  • He allows me to fall asleep in my chair in front of the TV
  • He goes on trips with his buddies and it gives me the freedom to power work late or on the weekends
  • He makes me laugh…I tend to be serious and he keeps me grounded and focused on what is important
  • He surprises me with a massage (from my favorite therapist) or comes home with flowers.

It is the little things that count.  Words are nice but I have always remembers the quote, “Actions Speak Louder Than Words”

Happy Valentines Day
